This morning I woke up, freezing! I couldn't seem to warm up. When Troy goes to bed he opens all the windows and turns the fan on to cool the house off. Come afternoon, the house is still cool and it feels good. However, it is always very cold in the morning. A coat just isn't cutting it either. So, I told the kids that we needed to get into my bed and snuggle up and maybe that would do the trick. Well, Alex proceeded to tell me that I was just a, "Brawley girl." I laughed and thought to myself, "Yeah, I guess I am." Brawley is my hometown and is a smeltering, humid 115 in the summertime. Here are a few pictures. You would walk out the door and instantly sweat. I never owned more than one, very light jacket at a time and that was more of a fashion statement than a necessity. There was never any guessing on what the weather would be like - HOT and SUNNY!

We were always barefoot. Walking down to Thrifty's for a ten cent ice cream cone with my sister and friend was one of the coolest things we did and swimming in canals. Pools were never heated and sunburns left us quaranteened to the house for days. I remember getting out of the tub once and not being able to tell the difference in my body temperature. I will be one wrinkly granny.

Here is a picture of the sand dunes that were close by, Glamis. They were huge and always a HOT spot. Just looking at them makes me feel warmer. Although, you couldn't bear enjoying them at least until November. The specs in the middle of the picture are ATV's and trucks.
Since moving to the northwest, I have fallen in love with the beautiful landscape, evergreens, mountains, flowers, etc. however, I will always be a "Brawley Girl."

So where in the world is Brawley? I've never heard of it before.
Brawley is in So. California, down by the border of Arizona and Mexico (about 20 min. away). It is also 2 hours east of San Diego. If we weren't shopping in Mexicali it was San Diego.
Min, you forgot to mention your bologna... (don't get made, you know I'm just kidding!!!)
115?? I remember it more like 125!
I'm a Brawley girl too...although I couldn't take those summers again.
Well, you have been a busy girl. I see you really like to blog. Must have much time on your hands.
You know they say, "You can take the girl out of brawley, but you cannot take the brawley out of the girl".
Have you missed me?
Spymaster, who are you?
I actually miss the heat!! Can you believe that?
